Recreational vehicle share platform Outdoorsy had an initiative they called Lab Day. Twice a year employees were given the opportunity to work on whatever they wanted for a full day. This allowed employees to focus on small-scale projects outside of their current workload.

Having recognized a major gap in the rental experience—which had historically led to a convoluted owner/renter handoff involving a thick stack of printed paperwork for review and signature and a lengthy hands-on key exchange—I took full advantage of Lab Day and concepted a native flow, where an owner could document the rental vehicle in detail, providing custom-written set-up instructions for every aspect of the rental. As well as document any pre-existing wear, damage, or inconsistencies.
